Sometimes in life you get lucky and the universe hands you a rare kind of friendship. Jen and I have been friends for 14 years. We have tons of travel and boys and adventures in common, but one of my favorite memories of all is her wedding two years ago to her love, Peter. Happy anniversary to one of my favorite redheads. You are fabulous and fierce, Jen. Love you!
Berkeley Plantation is nestled on the banks of the James River on the outskirts of Richmond. It’s surrounded by magnificent weeping willow and magnolia trees. The afternoon of Rachael and Justin’s ceremony, the sun broke through branches here and there throughout the afternoon. It dappled grass and skin with golden light. People laughed, chatted and kids played with hula hoops on the sloping lawn as it rolled toward the James. Rachael and Justin had exactly the relaxed and beautifully detailed recommitment ceremony they wanted. After day turned into night, they snazzily rode away in a lovely ’41 Packard in cherry red. I unintentionally caused all kinds of hilarity online by announcing their get away as a Hewlett Packard. Yep. I’m nothing if not blond. But fitting that a day filled with laughter should also end with it.
